City in Style

Five of the best city in the world and their fashion persona.

London BOLD AND FREESTYLE

London fashion is so bold they're big in colors and they love to mix and match. These girls will wear heels with bare legs. Follow Kate Moss and Sienna Miller, ladies who mix vintage with designer and pull it off every time. Let your personality show through your clothes.

New York FEMININE AND LAID BACK

New Yorkers love trends, they mix glamor and comfort to any outfits.

They love mixing styles and influences. As long as the outfit is balanced, you can have West-coast vibe indeed!

Paris NATURAL SOPHISTICATION

The mademoiselles are the hardest to pin down : simple and relaxed, but planned down to the tiniest detail. Lived-in, dusky or neutrals like taupe, beige, khaki and grey are popular. Vintage is big, the French literally wear their culture on their sleeves. Raid your Granny's attic for beads, pearls and print dresses... you're on the right track with anything over twenty years old. Parisian outfits are understated, so the details are extremely important. Finishes, accessories, bags and shoes will get you a second look on the street.

Tokyo FUN AND FUNKY

Think Hello Kitty, the Japanese loves to mix fun and fashion just like their "barbie doll". New-generation Japs style has been a big influence on the fashion world for the past few years with there young upbeat vibe and funky details .

- The more accessories, the better!

- Bows are big, in ribbon or plastic. Like hearts and flowers, they add the finishing touch to your Tokyo-style outfit.

- Customizing is hot. A simple leather bag is not enough for them, they'll hang big key chains on in it bold colors and cartoon faces. Follow their lead and personalize your basics!

Milan GLAMOROUS CHIC
The Italian style goes for the classic with a sexy edge. They often go for shades of the same color and basics that flatters their coloring.
Buttery leather is always hot in Milan, in neutral color.Sunglasses are an essential accessory, Italians like to be bang up to date, buying new sunglasses in the latest style each year.

Celebrity Babies

Their parents are celebrities. Yes, we know that, but what if they step out from the blinding limelight of their parents. Here are some of them who might choose a career other than being a star.

Suri Cruise - the Stylist

Have you ever seen TomKat's kitten wearing drab outfits? Never. She's a little fashionista at a very young age. Well, thanks to mom Katie who showers her daughter with the cutest and trendiest clothes that also screams "Hey, I'm expensive". One magazine quoted that the princess is very well versed in her ABC's; Armani, Burberry and Christian Lamboutin. I can't even remember her wearing the same outfit twice, I wonder how big is her closet. She can be a fashion editor of a magazine or a personal stylist of any celebrity. One thing is for sure though, Daddy Tom won't settle with that, Suri will be a stylist that can speak any language and can sing and dance as well.

Violet Affleck - the Teacher

Daredevil and Electra's little angel is such adorable. She is always caught by the paps with her mom or dad after school tagging along a paper with her art creations. Maybe she could be a teacher one day, she likes school, since she enjoys visiting libraries and the Scholastic Store. She even dressed up as a book character for Halloween too.I wonder why her hair is always messy. Mom Jennifer said on an interview that Daddy Ben just clips 1 or 2 barrettes in their daughters hair and she's off to school. How cute is that.

Cruz Beckham - the Dancer

You know that his parents don't dance, Posh Spice swings her body while singing but that's it, David is of course a soccer player. In the concert of the spice girls in New York, their children were called at stage and Cruz just leaves the audience at awe when he started moving with every beat of the music. When the audience cheered and the applause where deafening, the little beck dance more. Now mom Victoria can sing while his youngest do the dancing for her.

Shiloh Jolie-Pitt - the Ambassadress

The prodigy of one of the most beautiful couple in the world. Who's not familiar with Shiloh? In between film shoots of her parents, they were always in plane flying from coast to coast. Hopping houses from suburb New Orleans to the posh France and Germany together with her siblings. Her parents also has the Jolie-Pitt Foundation which donates billions of dollars. With these, she is exposed to the acts of sharing and will be perfect for this career.

Loving ELF

I search high and low for that make up product that is hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic,oil-free (the last thing I need in my face) and good color/quality application. I almost surrender and believe that these have a hefty price tag until one afternoon in a health and beauty store, I stumble upon a powder bronzer that says hypoallergenic, non-oily and smooth application. Now the moment of truth, when I saw the price, Whoa! It's just Php 129. Sold!

Here are my recent purchases and see for yourself.

ELF Natural Radiance Blusher in Glow

It has that natural peachy pink color on your cheeks, more like the natural
flushed you love.

ELF Brightening Eye Color in Nouveau
Natural

For that day make up lo
ok, the earth hues of this eyeshadow is perfect, the blue color though just adds that sparkle when you like it.

ELF Bronzer in Sunkissed

The color is just right for that golden godess glow look we try to have in summer.

ELF Regular and Waterproof Mascara

It is a beginner make up actually, no
thing especial about it but when I use it, my eyelashes are flirty thick and long, my eyes became noticeable.

ELF Super Glossy Lip Shine SPF 15 in Godess

Perfect for summer, the gloss is fine and not to forget the high SPF it has.
Good purchase. I prefer the godess and watermelon color, perfect for nights with that dramatic eyes look. I love neutral lip color.

ELF Lip Shine in Watermelon

ELF Candy Shop Lip Gloss in Mocha Mania

I love how it smelled and the color has that very sheen effect with a little bit of shimmer. Some love the Coconut Craze but I prefer this one. The packaging is very cute, I love to put it in my kikay kit. It is like the famous candy mint brand.

Things You Really Learn in School

Wake up at 6 a.m.,eat breakfast and go to school. 4 p.m. your home, eat your snacks and do your homework, watch TV a little then by 9 p.m. your in bed and ready to sleep. That's the typical day for most students, your whole day revolves around school. Not to mention hoe hectic it was to be the president of this club or a leader of this group. After graduation you realize things that are a little bit funny sometimes. Do you still memorize the preamble of the constitution or the formula of your physics test? Well, most probably the answer is no.
What are the things that we remember after school, below are what my friends and i have in common.

Discipline

I always wonder before why some school requires morning classes. For a night owl like me it is a big dilemma and so being late is not new to me. :) After school I realize that it is not about how early you wake up, it is the discipline to sleep early to wake up on time, manage your time wisely and keep the luxury of watching TV on saturdays and sundays. Discipline should be with us always especially after school because the real world does not tolerate late comers.

Don't sweat the small stuff

I am such a worry rat and it did not help at all. I was jumping from one school project to another and if something went bad, I panic, which makes it even worst. Deadlines are horrifying having 8 subjects and half of that needs a lot of your attention. Worrying, will confuse you, you'll just forget to deal with the most important things because you are so preoccupied with the least important ones.
Take time to breathe and smell the coffee. :) Some bad things that comes our way does not necessary mean that we have to take them all. The more relax your mind is, the more you can focus on the more important ones.

Take the critisms positively

You may hate your adviser when she tells you how bad your grades are or a seatmate for telling you that your not good in numbers. Wait till you meet you boss and co-workers. Harsh words are hard to take but this will make you realize more things about yourself. It is the perfect time to start looking for your strengths, it is what experts called the process of elimination where you remove weaknesses to look at your strenghts. If your not good in numbers, you may be good in letters. If your horrible in singing maybe it is dancing.

Independence

For the fortunate you have your yaya to take care of you or you mom to cook breakfast and fix your things. The real test of maturity is independence and we are not just talking about financials but a whole lot more. At school, your teachers wants you to do your homework not just because they want to punish you but they are actually teaching you to do it on your own. You will never test your limits or learn your capabilities until you try to do it yourself.

Enjoy!

I took everything seriously in school, not the over-achiever type but more on the perfectionist side. Never will I pass a paper work that has a lot of editing to do, or an artwork that needs improvement on colors. My older friends use to tell me to take it easy because when you after school, you'll miss everything. When your working, you won't be able to bond with your friends like you do in school, mistakes are lesser, failures are much painful and superiors sometimes won't accept that charming smile you flash to your teachers. Take that sweet journey easy and keep lock it in your heart.

Certified Chocoholic

Remember the movie Chocolat? The woman Vianne Rocher makes these incredible, mouthwatering truffles. Well, that is why she snag the debonair Roux played by Johnny Deep. Chocolates are one of those comfort foods and it is always on my grocery list. Even the dark variety that some may have a hard time wanting but I still. It is an easy and simple gift to give if someone is lonely, they were associated with being in love because of the ingredients it has. There are numerous benefits it does on our health like flavonoids that act as antioxidants. Antioxidants protect the body from aging caused by free radicals, which can cause damage that leads to heart disease. Dark chocolate contains a large number of antioxidants (nearly 8 times the number found in strawberries). Flavonoids also help relax blood pressure through the production of nitric oxide, and balance certain hormones in the body.

Chocolate also holds benefits apart from protecting your heart:

* it tastes good
* it stimulates endorphin production, which gives a feeling of pleasure
* it contains serotonin, which acts as an anti-depressant
* it contains theobromine, caffeine and other substances which are stimulants

Here are the chocolates I love to eat and also give.

10. Kit Kat I love the wafer and chocolate combination. Yum!

9. Hersheys Dark Chocolate Kisses
I like the color violet wrapper too. Perfect gift presentation itself.

8. Ferero Rocher I prefer the one in heart shape box, I get to use it as my bento box. The stickers in the front that has the label on it. I stick on my notes. hmmm...

7. M&M Peanuts - I remember when my brother send us chocolates from the states, I choose the biggest M&M chocolate. I pour it in a big glass jar next to my bed and it was my breakfast for 1 week straight. :)

6. Toblerone - The pride of Switzerland. My younger brother used to give me with this whenever he wants me to do his assignment. Guilty! :)

5. Cadbury Fruit and Nut - I love nuts on my chocolates and with the fruit, love it more.

4. A tie between Snickers Almonds and BabyRuth-
It is chewy, with caramel which I love too.

3. Ritter Sport Hazelnut and Praline - The hazelnuts and praline are the two best nuts for me.

2. Goya Dark Mint Chocolate -
This intrigued me the most, it's a little bit weird. Mint and Chocolate? Is it like a sweet and gum like flavor? It's just below Php 30 so I tried and never stop. It's like eating chocolate and having that fresh after taste, lovely. I bought this on Mercury Drug because you can rarely find it elsewhere.

and my Most Favorite.

1. Choc-Nut Yeah, okay I know I'm a bit patriotic here, together with the Goya chocolate they are locally produced. What can I say, It is the chocolate that I grew up with, He's been with me in recess time at grade school, field trip in high school and late night thesis brainstorming in college. So my palate always look for that peanut butter combination of choc-nut. Local chefs also mix it to their chocolate cakes and other desserts. And one thing to know if it is popular and delectable? Copy cats that sprung the market like mushrooms. Well, I tried them too but nothing compares to the the king.

Guilty pleasures at it's best, I can't wait to try those of french, italian and other countries who showcase different versions of chocolates. Must be really good too. ♥♥♥

Spend vs. Save

We are living in a crunch time, everything from clothes to food are being cut short. Budget, budget, budget is the word of today. But that doesn't mean that we have to sacrifice being presentable and beautiful, just be practical and choose the products wisely, you may end up buying multiple shades of foundation to perfectly match your skin tone when you can buy it on a single shade. Some products though are a bit pricey but with proper care it will last you for a long time, a good investment instead of buying cheap ones but the quality is not good. So here are my suggested list:

Spend on:

Eyelash Curler - Any woman knows that a nice curled lashes will make your eyes seem bigger and gorgeous. Well yes that's true, but most curlash, especially the cheaper ones may cut your lashes. So it is wise to invest in a good pair. Shu Uemura is a favorite of everyone, it has a lot of awards in it's belt so it a perfect investment.

Sunblock-
Sun worshipers
or haters for that matter needs this. All of us do, even guys and babies too. The amount of rays that penetrates our skin are dangerous enough, so we need a lot of protection. Not all sunblocks can deliver that so spending on a product that has more SPF with ingredients that block UVA/UVB too is better . A non-oily, non-comedogenic and hypoallergenic types are also what we should look at in the sunblock labels. Look for zinc oxide and titanium dioxide too.

try: VMV Hypoallergenics Armada Face and Body Sunblock Shield 60, the best sunblock in the market I get to know so far.

Make
up brushes - Invest on these products too, you will not regret it especially if you want that nice application of make up. You can buy them by set or you can start from their blush brush and eyeshadow brush.

Foundation - Finding that perfect shade is tricky, but there are good products now that deliver that great amount of coverage and still complements your skin tone in one single bottle, if you need that perfect shade, good coverage especially for close ups. try: Make Up Forever High Definition Foundation

Save on:

Concealer - A good concealer never cakes, light enough but gives enough coverage. You can have affordable concealers today thanks to brands like Maybelline, L'oreal or Avon. Their are different shades available just for you so start knowing your skin tone and they have that perfect shade for you.

Wedge Sponge
- I saw sponges that cost almost Php 600 and upon inspection it looks ordinary. You don't really need to spend much on these item. You just have to look for that smooth and ample thickness of the sponge for that great amount of application. Generic brands that you see on different drug and beauty stores are just fine.

Powder - loose powder, powder foundation or face powder. You name it but you don't really need to shell out on these. There are a lot of brands that are inexpensive but has good quality. I personally prefer Maybelline's Angel Fit Powder Foundation promotes the even skin tone outcome, which primarily is the promise of the line. The beauty of two-ways are that it is compact and easily and practical to. It has chamomile, royal jelly and vitamin E. A non-comedogenic product too. It makes your skin radiant like a bride. :)

Eyeshadow - They are economical, you can now choose different eyeshadow in pots and arrange it in a pallate. Before we use to buy eyeshadows with blues in greens on it which complements fair skin than medium dark skin ladies. Earth colored hues eyeshadow like brown, champagne or light gold for day make up. At night you can opt for a darker ones.

Avon Plum Orchid

Fanny Serrano Matte Eyeshadow Palette

Blush - They have to complement your skin tone too, a natural-flushed blush is now the trend. Pinky-brown blush color are for all skin tone. Light pink to apple or strawberry color for the fair skin, dark pinks or corals for medium skin tone and dark berry for the deep skin tone gals. I'm lovin' e.l.f. blushers, they are hypoallergenic, non-comedogeninc and the color applications are good not to forget how cute the prices are too.

E.L.F. Natural Radiance Blusher in Glow

ELF blusher in Flushed

ELF blusher in Bronze

Eyeliner- You just need a black for the nights out and brown for day make up. Just like this Avon eye pencil, it's a bit pricey compared to other local products but it has a good amount of color and it glides beautifully.

Mascara- It should be waterproof, does not clump and smudge free. ELF mascarra is just right and for Php129 it's quite a steal.

Lipstick- You have to update the color every now and then so don't buy the expensive type. Maybelline and Avon lipstick has that staying power for up to 8 hours and they have a lot of shades too.

Maybelline Wet Shine Diamond Lipstick

Lipgloss- I love the Maybelline's Fruit Jelly Lychee lipgloss, the shine is just right and it's just around Php300.

Lip balm- You should not forget to apply them in your lips. Chapstick lip balm is perhaps the cheapest but effective lip balm in the market today.
It's the only beauty product that stayed with me since high school. I use the cherry and my ultimate favorite spearmint, it's smell like judge chewing gum. Without it, my lips chapped and sometimes bleed. argh! An SPF 4 is a plus, but I noticed the packaging is now smaller compared before.
